Good morning, lovelies! Today, I thought I'd bring you my New Year's Resolutions (those related to reading and writing, anyway). It's just nice (and intimidating) to get my bookish goals out there to help keep myself accountable. Read 75 booksLast year I read 53 books, and I had set my goal at....wait for it...25. I wasn't sure how much reading I'd be able to get in with a wedding to plan for and a husband moving into the apartment and new schedules to figure out, but I surpassed my goal of 25 books within the first third of the year. Given, the second half of the year (after the wedding) were slow for reading for me. I had stopped listening to as many audiobooks, I was trying to adjust to spending a lot more time with my husband (and we still hadn't quite figured out the whole doing things together but separately thing), and I was picking up odd jobs that took up my time, too. So this year, I want to set my goal higher. I think this could be a record reading year for me! Complete my #2020ReadingPassport challengeIf you haven't already seen it, please go check out my post about the #2020ReadingPassport that I will be working to complete this year. The goal is to get me reading outside of my comfort zone a little more and giving myself some prompts to follow for a few reads of this year. I'd love it if you'd join me in my challenge!! Participate in 2 ReadathonsWhether it be another #24in48 readathon or the NEWTs or OWLs reading challenges I've participated in last year, I want to complete another two readathons in 2020. I think that they really help me push toward my goal as well as just put some time aside for myself. Write 100 blog postsThat means I need to post (on average) about 2 posts per week. I really hope to do more than that, but I know how busy I can get once in a while. I'd like to average 3 per week, so that's my unofficial goal, and I'm giving myself some leeway to hit the 100 total threshold for the year. Create a more consistent instagram brandI'd really like to improve my Instagram skills. There are so many BEAUTIFUL pictures on Bookstagram, and I'd like to up my game a little bit. I know that I'll never get to the same caliber as some people, but I'd at least like to create a more consistent brand for myself. I'm going to work hard to take pictures early and give myself a bit of time to edit and schedule so that if I'm having a busy week, I don't have to worry about posting daily to Instagram or Twitter. Finish Project serenity & get it publish-ready!My biggest goal for this year is for my writing: I'm going to FINALLY finish Project Serenity, and I'm going to try to go through a couple of editing cycles to start prepping it and getting it publish-ready. I also will need to do a lot of research to learn what steps I need to go through in editing, finding a publisher, going through the alpha and beta readings, etc. There's a lot for me to learn about becoming an author and getting a book published, but I'd really like to figure some of that out and take the first steps this year (which means I actually have to finish the novel first!). So there you have it, my 2020 bookish goals.
