I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and are ready for a fantastic new DECADE! I don't know about you, but thinking that this is the end of an era and start of a new one is crazy. I've been using the past few weeks to reflect on the year and the decade, and it's crazy that in I was still in school back in 2010, barely old enough to even drive. I was just starting high school, actually. And now here I am with a husband, full-time job, and so many hobbies and side projects that make me happy! In trying to come up with some posts during this busy time of year, I decided to go ahead and do a Year in Review post and talk about how I did on my bookish goals for 2019 as well as some things I learned about reading, writing, and myself. First, let's look back on some of my 2019 goals: Bookstagram1. Post 5 days per weekYeah…this did not go so well. I did alright the first part of the year, and then it all just fell apart. I feel like I don't have a lot of things that help my pictures look super "aesthetic," and so my photos sometimes don't have a lot of depth. And I'm also just a busy person who doesn't always have time each day to think about what to post. 2. Engage with othersOkay, this I did alright at. I guess there isn't a great way for me to measure this, especially because I didn't create a set number of engagements I wanted to have. But I definitely worked on commenting on others' posts, encouraging them, asking questions, and just getting to know them. I also ended up being a representative for @bellesbooksleeves most of the last half of the year, and it was so much fun! I loved connecting with other book lovers in our rep group chat. (And getting/helping others get a 10% discount on Belle's AMAZING booksleeves was just an additional perk!! - Use TEACUPS10 for the discount on items over $10). Another group I got involved in was a Harry Potter "book club" hosted by @mrsdavisbooks, where we read and chatted about each of the Harry Potter books from May through November. Once again, having a group that geeked out with me and I was able to get to know some more Bookstagrammers better was super nice. 3. Participate in 3 Bookstagram challengesWell, once again, I did the first one in January, and then I really didn't pick up any more. I think this was just because I totally forgot this was a goal, and like I said, I ended up not doing too well on posting soon after the first part of the year anyway. Writing1. 2,000 words a weekHard no. I don't even have an excuse for this. I just didn't make it a habit and so it didn't happen (shrug). 2. First draft doneNope. At least not yet. But I definitely feel good about progress I made on Project Serenity (formerly As it Seems before I decided to change it and restart during NaNoWriMo). Reading1. Read over 25 booksHey! A goal I surpassed (by a lot!)! As of when I wrote this post (last week) I had read 52 books in 2019, and was in the middle of another. Depending on how my last few vacation days of 2019 go, I could easily get in another book or two… 2. Read two nonfiction booksAnother goal I did well on. I ended up listening to a couple of autobiographies (Ellen Degeneres and Kristin Chenoweth) via audiobook, and I loved them! 3. Read two poetry booksI did read one poetry book, but unfortunately I wasn't a big fan. I just never ended up picking up another poetry book during the year. Other things I learned in 2019:
How did you do on your 2019 goals? I'd love to hear from you!
